Newsletter Summer 2026
Well what a year it’s been..
We opened eastbourne a year ago and we now have loads of you coming over for lessons, group sessions and workshops.
Plus some of you have used the recording studio. It is so exciting for me to see how the new facilities set in such an vibey setting with a real piano and acoustic drums has really inspired so many.
Groups
The groups have been growing nicely and everyone who is doing them is really gaining musicality in their playing as they work with others. 2 of the lads have turned into great mates.
Still spaces going for these in September.
Summer workshops
I’m thrilled so many of you are doing the summer workshops.
These were such a great success,
We are planning to extend these next year, including some easter ones aswell for those away in the summer.
Holidays.
Just for overall clarity on the school holidays.
We carry on through all holidays apart from the 2 weeks of Christmas..
This means we can offer lessons in holidays for students wanting consistency and not having to have a break like in schools.
We can give provide more weeks each year so if a teacher is on a gig and no cover is possible or if teachers or student are ill we have more weeks to play with..
Everyone is away at some point and need weeks for other things but just so you know the reason we carry on..
Never a problem if someone doesn’t do holidays you will never lose your slot in the calendar !!
How Blocks work?
There is often confusion with the block lesson payment system.
Block payments are no different from paying as you go.
You have the same cancellation policy and all that happens is that the lesson carry’s over if one is missed within the the cancellation policy..
We do the blocks to minimise admin and to have a feeling that students are part of a community not just an occasional appointment.. like a haircut !

The 24 hours notice just makes the teachers feel like they can guarantee their income on the day. And changes can be made in good time..

Online learning
With cancellations in mind.. sometimes the reason for not getting to a lesson isnt student illness. It could be that a car has broken down etc…
We have online lesson set ups in all studios, so if this is possible, just jumping on a zoom call for a lesson is always an option to prevent missing a weeks lesson..

Hailsham
So… we are moving the Hailsham studio to a bigger and better space on the Diplocks estate.
We will have 2 rooms, our own reception plus AIR CON!!!!
We will have acoustic drums, real piano plus the opportunity for group sessions over there.
Ive always wanted our studios to have a special feeling about them and I really think the upgrade to Hailsham does this..
I will be in touch with dates for the move, no need to do anything yet..

Awkward money info incoming. !!! (Anyone who’s started in the last year you can ignore this bit)
Ive never liked talking money and If I could i’d make music lessons free.
But unfortunately I do need to increase the lesson prices.
From the start of the new school year in September, we'll be introducing a unified pricing structure so that lesson prices are consistent across the board.
The new prices have been in place for any of the new students for nearly a year but I’ve held back , really not wanting to affect our existing students up to now but for many reasons it just needs to happen.
The old prices have remained unchanged for over five years. During that time, the cost of running the business has increased significantly, including the investment in our upgraded studios. Plus our new location in Hailsham will be opening in September..
But also of course, utilities and just general cost of living..
Plus I want the teachers to start getting a bit more for the above reasons..
This small price adjustment will help us continue providing the high-quality lessons and facilities that you enjoy.
New Lesson Prices from all new payments owed after sept 1st
In Studio Lessons (all venues)
20 minutes (Under 8s) – £15.50
30 minutes – £22.50
45 minutes – £32.00
60 minutes – £40.00
Block Bookings (5 Lessons)
5 × 20-minute lessons – £72.50
5 × 30-minute lessons – £100.00
5 × 45-minute lessons – £150.00
5 × 60-minute lessons – £190.00
Sibling or 2 instrument discount of £190 for 2 x 5 blocks
Current home visit students will pay the same as the studio lessons above so £100 for a block
Home Visit prices are below for anyone starting from September
Home Visit Block Bookings (5 Lessons)
5 × 30-minute lessons – £115
5 × 60-minute lessons – £210
Online lessons will remain the same price as studio lessons.
I really hope you understand all this…
The Musicians’ Union (MU) recommends a minimum rate of £44.00 per hour.
So we are still at the lower end of our unions recommended rate if you do blocks.
I really encourage you to do this.
It makes all our teachers admin easier and cheaper for you!

These will be able to be in Hailsham and in Eastbourne now so hopefully the locations will suit more people..
